Steel pipe industry through establishment of energy management center find the perfect method of saving energy

    In the November 25th meeting of the “iron and steel enterprise energy management center demonstration projects Seminar”, every enterprise greatly pay attention to China’s iron and steel energy saving “weakness.” Information released at the meeting: on the one hand, China’s steel pipe industry in general are more backward technology and equipment. Secondary energy recovery is low. On the other hand, China’s primary energy in coal, iron and steel pipe industry accounted for 70% and poor coal quality, and oil and gas share of energy lower  than the United States, Germany, Japan, 15% to 25%. Thus resulting in China’s steel pipe industry more per ton of steel consumption in these countries than 15-20 kg of standard coal. In addition, China’s accumulation of scrap is less, the rate of smelting furnace steel scrap is only 10%, when the United States is about 55%, about 30% in Germany, Japan, 25%, which in turn caused some of China the comprehensive energy consumption per ton of steel is 80 kg of standard coal more than developed countries. The total cost of the steel, energy costs accounted for 20% -35%, China’s steel pipe industry superposition of various factors of high energy consumption, not only weakened the international competitiveness of industry, but also is a heavy burden on resources and the environment.      
    As an experimental unit of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Valin Xiangtan Iron and Steel Group general manager Zhou Haibin introduced  the basic model, which is based on system optimizing integration, supported by the information technology, be the carrier to energy management center project for the improve energy management and control system. For example the system through the monitors, sensors, smart terminals to realize the electric, gas, oxygen, nitrogen, argon, steam, water and other energy equipments’ real-time monitoring and analysis system failure alarm, remote operation control. In some technology areas, scheduling and controlling information technology equipment are able to control energy consumption, even to the “kilograms.” Implementation of the project two years ago, Hunan Valin comprehensive energy consumption per ton of steel had reduced the level of 38 kilograms of standard coal. If this technology popular in the country’s steel tube industry, even if the reduction in energy consumption of per ton steel can reduce 10 kg standard coal each year, which can save about 700 million tons of coal and is equivalent to a large-scale production of coal a year.
    Ministry of Energy Saving and Comprehensive Utilization Department, Deputy Director Yang Tiesheng points out that China’s iron and steel pipe industry energy consumption accounts for about 10% of total energy consumption, which is the focus of national industrial energy consumption. The establishment of iron and steel enterprise energy management center demonstration projects, can accelerate industrialization and integration of information technology, make a great efforts to increase the steel pipe industry of energy-saving technological transformation. It is of great significance of China’s steel pipe industry to improve energy management and energy efficiency.
