With stabilizing national economy, especially urbanization progress, China steel pipe demand would advance further in 2013 but the growth of which may drop down significantly. China steel pipe demand is forecast to grow 3 percent to 78 million tonnes this year, including 29 million tonnes of seamless steel pipe and 49 million tonnes of welded pipe. Meanwhile, we are expected to export 9.2 million tonnes of steel pipe, up 4 percent year on year, consisting of 5.4 million tonnes of seamless steel pipe and 3.8 million tonnes of welded pipe.

Actually, overcapacity issue still presents as urgent in China and industrial concentration seems too low. The production of top 10 seamless steel pipe producers accounted for less 40 percent of total production in China and that in welded pipe producers just occupied for 20%
